Double publication success for quartet of CCRI researchers

Last week, four of the CCRI team received the great news that publications had either been accepted, or were now in production.

Dan Keech and Matt Reed were informed that a book for which they co-wrote a chapter has now been put into production.

The book is due to be published on 5th October 2019, and is published by Palgrave Macmillan. More information about the book can be found on the publisher’s website. Regarding their chapter in the book, Matt said “this is an exciting chapter about urban agriculture and the use of social media.  The innovation is that we have been able to show how social media is linking urban agriculture activists across the world, and where a ‘switch’ takes place as people move discussions in English into another language.  Thinking about urban agriculture in a global context stimulated a whole near area of research for us”.

Meanwhile, Janet Dwyer and Mauro Vigani have had a paper accepted for publication in the prestigious Journal of Agricultural Economics. The paper, entitled ‘Profitability and efficiency of high nature value marginal farming in England’. Janet was granted special permission to access Defra’s Farm Buisness Survey and the research was conducted with the Uplands Alliance, a “network of organisations and individuals who are passionate about land management in the uplands”. Analysis of the data was conducted by Mauro Vigani and Janet presented some of the results from this at the Oxford Real Farming Conference in January 2019 during an Uplands Alliance session. Janet said that she “hopes to be able to discuss the findings with them [Uplands Alliance], now that the work is finalised”.

Janet and Mauro’s paper should be published later this year, and we will update as more information becomes available.
