Dan Keech & Matt Reed participate in online seminar

On Thursday 29th April, Dan Keech and Matt Reed participated in an exciting on-line seminar on ‘The Past and Future of Gardens’ hosted by Professor Akile Reside Gursoy of Baykent University in Istanbul. With a key-note speech from economic historian Sir Roderick Floud, an eclectic range of shorter contributions included a review of the role of tulips and orchards in Ottoman palace gardens, experiences of Soviet-era allotments in Czechoslovakia, seasonal flora at Great Dixter Gardens in Sussex, and the role of hospital gardens in mental and physical recuperation in the eastern USA. Matt’s presentation covered food citizenship among the grassroots food networks of Bristol, while Dan revisited tradition and innovation in German urban horticulture.
