Janet Dwyer leads discussion at ‘Innovation in Gloucestershire’s Rural Business’ event

village scene lady post office 392x272Janet Dwyer led a discussion session at an ‘Innovation in Gloucestershire’s Rural Businesses event’ on 16th September.

The event, which was lively and well-received, was organised by GFirst Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Land Based Business Group. Its purpose was to demonstrate to Gloucestershire rural businesses how their businesses could benefit from engaging with GFirst LEP.

Delegates were motivated by inspirational stories from local businesses Godsell’s Cheese and Green Gourmet, who explained how their enterprises had developed and grown, and how they faced some of the challenges met on the way.

The Innovation in Rural Businesses event followed on from GFirst LEP’s Annual Review, which reported on the successes, and looked to the future, of the projects that are benefiting from Gloucestershire’s Growth Deal funding. With over 300 businesses in attendance, Chair, Diane Savory OBE, and Chief Executive, David Owen, kicked off the Annual Review with a summary of how £77.5 million has started to be spent in the county over the past 12 months. Reporting on the end of year one delivery of Growth Deal funding, an impressive array of projects were discussed; from a new bus station in Gloucester, to helping retailers engage with digital technologies.

Janet is a member of GFirst LEP Land Based Business Group, which is working in partnership with the education and public sectors to help Gloucestershire realise its economic potential.

Chris Short, Isabel Fielden and Eloise Fresnay were also involved in the event.

The Growth Hub is a unique partnership between the University of Gloucestershire and GFirst LEP, created to enable businesses in Gloucestershire to maximise their true growth potential.
