Professor Paul Courtney is off to Milan today to make a presentation at the 8th European Public Health Conference: Health in Europe, from global to local policies, methods and practices, which takes place between 14th and 17th October, 2015.
Together with Dr Colin Baker of the University of Gloucestershire School of Sports & Exercise, Paul will be presenting a poster to report findings from a two-year evaluation of the Active Together Programme which is drawing on the principles of Social Return on Investment (SROI) and Grounded Theory to capture the wider impacts of community health programmes.
In addition to disseminating the findings they are hoping to gain interest in their methodology and make contacts beyond UK shores to help take subsequent research forward.
Active Together is a grant scheme from Gloucestershire County Council that seeks to encourage more sport and physical activity across the county. The scheme is open to community groups including sports clubs, scout groups, parish councils and schools. More information.
