Julie Ingram recently presented findings from the project Perennial Biomass Crops4 Greenhouse Gas Removal (PBC4GGR) at the final UK GGR Event hosted by the CO2RE Hub, at the Royal Institution in London from 29 September to 1 October 2025.
The event brought together the CO2RE Hub and five interdisciplinary GGR Demonstrator projects: GGR-Peat, Biochar, Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW), Perennial Biomass Crops (PBC4GGR) and Woodland Creation and Management (NetZero+). During the first day of the three day event which had the focus ‘inform’, each of the projects presented their research, shared findings and discussed cross-cutting themes. The remaining two days of the event addressed ‘impact’ and ‘innovate’. Full details of the event can be found here.
The CCRI team have been leading the social science research for PBC4GGR, and consist of Julie Ingram, Jane Mills, Honor Mackley-Ward, Rhian Brimble and Natasha Stonebridge.
Earlier this year an article related to the research conducted as part of PBC4GGR was published in the journal ‘Energy Research and Social Science’. Entitled “For all kinds of reasons, it hasn’t happened”: A novel integrative perspective for analysing the barriers to biomass crops for bioenergy in the United Kingdom’ it is available here.
