CCRI Professor of Social Economy, Paul Courtney has been invited to guest edit a Special Issue of the journal ‘Sustainability‘. The theme of the Special Issue will be ‘Fostering Inclusivity in Rural Economic Development’, and will be published in autumn 2020. The journal is now accepting manuscript submissions for consideration.
Sustainability is an international, cross-disciplinary, scholarly, peer-reviewed and open access journal of environmental, cultural, economic, and social sustainability of human beings. Sustainability provides an advanced forum for studies related to sustainability and sustainable development, and is published semi-monthly online by MDPI. The Special Issue is seeking articles which address one or more of the following:
(1) Explore theoretical concepts and derive emergent paradigms around inclusivity as it relates to rural economic development;
(2) Develop relevant or innovative methodologies;
(3) Evaluate current policy and/or programme delivery;
(4) Report empirical evidence on any aspect of inclusivity in rural economic development, including policy analysis.
Regarding the invitation by the journal, Paul said:
“It is a great opportunity to edit this Special Issue, which will focus on a topic that the CCRI has a long-standing interest and track record in. Although widely recognised as development which is significantly widespread for the majority of a population or society to benefit, in a rural context the notion of inclusivity extends itself to the collaborative processes involved in the design of development policy, and the social value delivered through such policy. However, inclusivity as it relates to rural economic development remains inadequately defined and methodologically underdeveloped. This Special Issue provides an opportunity to address these shortcomings and to inform the debate at a crucial juncture in rural development policy”.
Papers selected for this Special Issue will be subject to a rigorous peer review procedure with the aim of rapid and wide dissemination of research results, developments, and applications. Full details of manuscript submission guidelines can be found on the Special Issue webpage of Sustainability journal.
