Monitoring & Evaluation for Culture Nature England Project

CCRI are leading an evaluation of the Culture Nature England project. The project, delivered in partnership by Natural England and Libraries Connected, provides funding, guidance and support for public libraries to deliver combined culture and nature opportunities to their local communities; promoting inclusion, diversity and equity in access to nature and all of the positive benefits this can bring. Through varied library activities, the project aims to boost library audiences’ nature connection and their knowledge and valuing of our most precious Protected Sites across England.

The evaluation uses survey, interview and focus group methods to capture the views and experiences of both the library staff delivering the programme, and the library audiences accessing Culture Nature activity. It combines programme-wide insight with in-depth attention to case study libraries, selected to reflect the variety of activities, target audiences and local contexts across the programme.

Led by Dr Demelza Jones, the evaluation will run from November 2024 until April 2025. Demelza is joined on the evaluation team by Dr Alice Goodenough and colleagues from Expert Academic Partnerships (EAP) Research Consultancy.
