Professor Janet Dwyer, Director of the CCRI, has announced her decision to step down from the Director’s role at the end of this academic year.
After 11 years leading the CCRI team at the University of Gloucestershire and having seen the Institute through a full REF cycle, which has culminated in the strongest CCRI submission in its 35-year lifetime, she feels ready to step aside and re-focus on her own research portfolio, making way for someone else to take up the reins.
Janet says: “I feel proud of what the Institute has achieved under my leadership, developing and broadening its research on sustainability, resilience and transformation and engaging with stakeholders and research partners locally, nationally and internationally. We have grown and extended our reach and our relevance, even in these most challenging times. I have every confidence in the CCRI’s future as a beacon of excellent and relevant research for the 21st Century, and I am looking forward to increasing my investment in new research on rural enterprise and innovation as well as leadership in UK Agricultural Economics, in the years ahead.”
Janet will continue her work as Professor of Rural Policy within the CCRI, leading on key projects and initiatives including NICRE – the National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise, which runs initially from 2020-2023.
