Janet Dwyer and Chris Short at PEGASUS meeting in Calabria

Professor Janet Dwyer and Chris Short are currently in Reggio in Calabria at the very end of the ‘foot’ of Italy. They are attending the 2nd PEGASUS Annual Steering Group Meeting, which is taking place between 14th to 16th March.

CCRI Seminar Presentation – Thursday, 16th March

The CCRI is currently hosting Luca Lazzarini, a PhD student in Urban and Regional Development at the Inter-university Department of Urban and Regional Studies and Planning (DIST) at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. This Thursday, 16th March, Luca is giving a presentation as part of the CCRI Seminar Series “For rural space. A scenario-based approach for re-addressing planning practice”.

CCRI welcomes visitors from AkitaAgeLab, Japan

Dr Shogo Kudo, Yoshitaka Ohara and Professor Yoshitaka Kumagai, from the AkitaAgeLab in Japan, visited CCRI on 8th March and gave a short presentation to demonstrate a project which is addressing ageing society challenges in rural Japan.

Narratives within urban ruins

Dan Keech is teaming up with former CCRI colleague, Owain Jones, (now Professor of Environmental Humanities at Bath Spa University) at a workshop at Trinity College, Dublin, on 1st to 3rd March, talking about urban ruins. They are giving a talk about the rhizomic agency of ruins by looking at how they feature in World Heritage designations, in literature about the aftermath of the Second World War and as a relic of the Cold War.

CCRI co-ordinating ecosystem workshop in Cairo

Drs Kenny Lynch (School of Natural and Social Sciences, University of Gloucestershire) and Julie Ingram are coordinating a Workshop in Cairo on 'Ecosystem services in informal settlements in Cairo' on 25th to 27th February.
