A PEGASUS project field trip

Recently Pete Gaskell and Nick Lewis travelled to the North Pennines AONB as part of the Horizon 2020 project 'PEGASUS'. They were working with contacts within the AONB and aiming to develop an understanding of the area and the various relationships between farming, forestry and the provision of Ecosystem services.

How effective is traffic light food labeling?

Matt Reed is working with a University of Gloucestershire research team in a study to determine to what extent consumers currently use existing front of packaging (FOP) traffic light nutrition labeling to make their food choices, or whether an alternative receipt-based summary may be a more useful tool instead.

Paper accepted for publication by Preventive Veterinary Medicine

Damian Maye and Rhiannon Naylor contributed to a paper which has been accepted for publication by Preventive Veterinary Medicine. The paper stems from research, contracted by Defra and the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency in 2012, to undertake an exploration of factors that influence the expansion of the area affected by endemic bTB.

Funding secured to lead international workshop on food security

Julie Ingram and Kenny Lynch (School of Natural and Social Sciences, University of Gloucestershire) have secured funding from the UK’s Newton Fund to work with researchers from Egypt and South Africa on understanding water and food security issues. The support comes from a British Council Researcher Links award.

Paper with free access published in Sustainability

A paper based on a study of cheese supply chains in the UK and Switzerland, which was co-written by CCRI researchers, has been published with open access by Sustainability. It is derived from research conducted as part of the EU 7th Framework Programme project GLAMUR (Global and Local food chain Assessment: a MUltidimensional performance-based approach).

Pete Gaskell at Heritage Alliance workshop

Pete Gaskell was in London yesterday (28th April) attending a Heritage Alliance ‘Audience Mapping’ workshop, which aimed to assist the development of a new strategic plan for The Heritage Alliance by mapping and prioritising its audiences to enable better understanding and engagement with them.
