Julie Ingram and Jane Mills have co-authored a paper which has just been published in the Journal of Rural Studies. The paper is entitled 'Communicating soil carbon science to farmers: incorporating credibility, salience and legitimacy’ and has free online access until December 24, 2016.

A VALERIE project workshop took place in Brussels on 1st June, which was attended by Julie Ingram together with representatives of national & regional farmer unions, AKIS Working Groups, the EIP-AGRI Service Point & EIP Operational Groups.
Julie Ingram and Kenny Lynch (School of Natural and Social Sciences, University of Gloucestershire) have secured funding from the UK’s Newton Fund to work with researchers from Egypt and South Africa on understanding water and food security issues. The support comes from a British Council Researcher Links award.
Matt Reed has been walking the terraces of Cyprus where a team from The Cyprus Institute, as part of the RECARE project, are investigating the role of terraces in preserving the soil. In this blog, Matt talks about the traditions of cultivation of mountain terraces and the the challenge to produce and sell food in a way that develops livelihoods and sustains the environment. Matt was accompanied by Jane Mills.
CCRI soil experts, Julie Ingram and Jane Mills, recently co-authored a paper on “Management of agricultural soils for greenhouse gas mitigation: Learning from a case study in NE Spain", which was published in Environmental Science and Policy. This paper has now been made available online. It is based on data collected from the EU FP7 SmartSoil project.
CCRI was recently successful in securing around £287,400 EU Horizon 2020 funding as part of a project called SoilCare (SoilCare for profitable and sustainable crop production in Europe). SoilCare aims to identify and evaluate site-specific, soil-improving cropping systems and agronomic techniques that have positive impacts on profitability and sustainability in Europe.
The overall aim of SoilCare was to identify and evaluate promising soil-improving cropping systems and agronomic techniques that increase the profitability and sustainability of agriculture across Europe.
